Specialist Facade Research & Testing Facility
WindLab is an internationally renowned wind testing facility. Featuring an open jet, high power, short tunnel configuration, WindLab is designed to test 1:1 scale facade elements for wind noise and structural integrity. The 4 centrifugal fans can generate flow velocities over 50m/s and full variable speed control allows for low speed aero-acoustic testing, and high-speed structural tests.
WindLab is used by engineers from around the world to optimise complex designs and identify, then mitigate, wind-related risks prior to construction.
Testing at WindLab
WindLab is available for private research and testing. While each use is unique and we cater for differing needs, the following service levels are those generally offered.
Level 1
Facility Access
Approved parties are able to conduct their own tests.
Level 2
PMU & Testing
We construct and test a performance mock-up to clients requirements.
Level 3
End-to-End Testing
Includes facade system design, construction of PMUs, full testing, and an engineers report/certification/PS1 (NZ only)
